Therapy in Bristol & beyond
Counselling in English, Italian & French
Dr Lin Lin Ginzberg (she/her)
I am a qualified BACP registered Counsellor based in central Bristol.
My aim is to offer a safe, holding space for you to bring yourself, as you are.
We can work together to explore where your past and present intertwine.
I bring my own curiosity and compassion into the space and hope to help foster a healing curiosity for yourself.
In addition to English, I also offer counselling in French and in Italian.
My core training is in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling
Integrative means I have trained in more than one style of counselling – Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Jungian, Creative – and can choose to lean into whichever style best suits you at the time.
❋ Integrative
Transpersonal means I am open to the more-than-individual dimension – something soulful – whatever that may mean for you. I believe this can look very different for different people; for example, you may be curious about science or feel a connection to nature.
❋ Transpersonal
I have worked for four years with Womankind, an established mental health charity also delivering psychodynamic counselling services. Psychodynamic therapy explores how current difficulties you are having may be rooted in past experiences.
At times, for some of us, words are not enough, and I find that dreams, imagination and creativity (such as metaphor, drawing, music or writing) can bring a rich perspective to the work.
“It’s the relationship that heals” Irvin Yalom
No type of counselling or psychotherapy is more effective than another. Instead, it seems to be the quality of the therapeutic relationship that makes a difference.
Therefore, the first step would be to have an initial session together, to see if we might be a good fit.
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
Maya Angelou
My journey to this work started with a fascination with science, biology and our minds. This led me to complete a PhD in Neuroscience at University College London, researching memory and cognitive maps. I was later awarded a grant from the Wellcome Trust to bridge science and creativity in science media production and broadcasting. I spent years working for the BBC and other production companies making documentaries. My interests and strengths led me to specialise in stories that required sensitivity to cultural differences, mental health and trauma. My interest in human stories and the inspiring resilience I encountered along the way, along with my own personal experiences and therapeutic journey over hundreds of hours, cemented my desire to immerse myself in this world.
I have grown up in various continents, and in addition to English, I am also fluent in French and Italian, should you feel more comfortable using either of these languages.
I work with a range of difficulties, and also have particular interest in:
❋ anxiety
❋ depression
❋ self-esteem
❋ relationship difficulties
❋ cultural differences
❋ neurodiversity
❋ trauma
❋ change & thresholds in life
❋ parenthood
❋ perimenopause & menopause
❋ miscarriage & pregnancy loss
❋ grief
❋ integration of psychedelic experiences
❋ meaning and purpose

Practicalities & fees
I offer counselling to adults (18+) in person in central Bristol, or online.
I can work with you anywhere in the world, except for the USA & Canada.
For in-person sessions, I currently have some availability on Mondays in central Bristol, BS1.
Sessions are weekly, last 50 minutes and cost £65.
We would start by arranging an initial session to meet and gauge if we may be the right fit. If you feel you would like to continue working together, we would then meet weekly, at the same place and time each week.
There is no set amount of sessions. I work in an open-ended way and it will be up to you ultimately how many sessions you feel you need. You can stop at anytime, but I do ask for us to have an ending session to bring the work to a close.
You can email me to enquire about availability and to book an initial session: linlin@unfurlingtherapy.com
